I found a flier about Fibro that I have had forever - since 1990 probably. It read in small letters on the back of the flier "Fibromyalgia is thought to be caused by a virus or bacterial infection" - here it is 20 years later and they still don't know????????????? COME ON!

Also, ALL diseases such as MS, Parkinsons, ALS, RSD and more are ALL thought to be caused by a virus or bacteria! Are doctor's really this stupid?

:duh:

The only thing I can think of is that if there is a virus or bacteria, there may be people that are cured. If not, ongoing treatment, meds, appointments, etc. keeps the medical world going around.

Too cynical? :|

Hey Dana, who put out that flyer you have?

good point... "fibro" would be cured, but big pharma is making too much money off of it! I just can't believe it's so hard to get those "fibro" folks to realize that it's something else. I caught a few of them and said "look just check into this, there is a chance you could get better and not have to live like this" some were accepting, were testing and of course found out they had lyme...and guess what, they are better now...hmmmm

Any advice given by me, is just that, advice. I am not a medical doctor, and I suggest you talk to your doctor about any concerns.

Amy - I'd have to find it again, I came across it a couple years ago. I think it is buried in a box in my closet now. It was a blue and white flier I picked up at a doctor's office years ago, when fibro was not accepted as a real disorder. NO, I don't think you are too cynical..truthful is more like it.

Jaime - I saw a post at a Lyme forum the other day that read "Could my fibro be lyme?" She went on to say that she had found out Lyme symptoms were similar and wondered if that could really be her ailment! Wow! You don't see that ever. I hope she gets tested. The answers were "scattered" at best and not very helpful coming from a group of lymies you think they'd give her a complete rundown. One person mentioned Igenex...I hope that is enough for her to pursue it.
