Anyone know if it's counter-productive to be on a colon-cleanse while on abx?

I think it's a good idea for detoxing.

Hi Julie,
I agree w/Molly it can be good for detoxing although I haven't done it, let us know how you feel. I have heard a lot about people doing coffee enema's (I know sounds horrible) - they swear it is awesome and stops herxing. My LLMd once suggested it to me, I haven't done it, maybe I should as horrible as I have been feeling.

After I was treated for Lyme & coinfections, I did numerous colonics, including coffee enemas and lemon enemas. I also used to drink the juice of a lemon with 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil in the morning. This is also very good for detoxing the liver. I haven't done oral cleanses, but I can tell you the colonics and enemas were helpful in eliminating toxins and strengthening the immune system. Lyme can really beat up the immune system (and so do all those medications) but a healthy colon will help you fight infection. Good luck w/this.

Christian - absolutely amazing you would bring up the lemon/olive oil drink. I have heard of this for the past few years and just did it today for the first time. Which did you think worked the best? I read they give this drink to HIV patients and if you add Lecithin, it can knock out brain fog, nerve pain and all kinds of things. Here is the recipe I did, is this the same as yours:

(Rapidly heals Neuropathy and promotes weight gain by detoxifying the liver and normalizing saliva pH values)
Into a blender, add 1/2 a lemon (cut-up) including the rind and pulp. Be sure to first wash the lemon well and scrape off markings from artificial coloring. To the Blender, add the cut up lemon plus one Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and one cup of water or orange or other fruit juice. Blend at high speed for one minute. Pour through a strainer (screen type) to remove pulp. Use a spatula to press the pulp. Discard the pulp. Drink it all at once.

If you have problems sleeping, drink it just before you retire to your bedroom at night. It will help you get a good night’s sleep. The therapeutic value of this drink comes from the whole lemon and the extra-virgin olive oil. The orange juice or other fruit juice is added as a sweetener. You may use 1 cup of any kind of fruit juice that you desire. However, if you have thrush or yeast overgrowth, avoid fruit juice which stimulates growth of yeast. It is better to use plain water.

Note: Extra Virgin Olive Oil is cold pressed. Light olive oil is heat processed and may not have the same benefits. I would suggest checking with your local health food store for a high quality cold pressed extra virgin olive oil

The "recipe" you posted sounds good. I just squeezed one large lemon and mixed it w/a tablespoon of olive oil, nothing more than that. I was told to drink it first thing in the morning. My bile was sluggish and I didn't eliminate well, so I was told to take this mixture. I think it really helps your liver & gall bladder, so stick with it! I also used to drink apple cider vinegar with the "mother" in it (find it in organic food stores, health stores etc), mixed with honey. Here's a recipe ... tonic.html

Wow thanks for the awesome feedback/info! I am going to try it, and maybe the lemon/olive oil thing too....

I was afraid that possibly the cleanse would counteract the antibiotics....but it seems like it would be ok. Thanks again j

If you want to be thorough, do a colonic- or even better, a set of colonics (4 or 5 of them). But if you're going for a more natural route, gradually move to a high-fiber diet (beans, dark green leafy veggies, fiber muffins, etc). Definitely try the olive oil/lemon and the vinegar/honey.
