Man.

It started Saturday, I'm seeing my dr. tomorrow. Sick inside, muscle weakness (I call it the "cement suit") out of this world knee and leg pain, headaches etc.

I've been off the cef for about four weeks now, the last two weeks being so good. I thought maybe I had turned a corner.

Any thoughts or advice on the next abx to try will be so appreciated. Still on Biaxin. Love to you all. :jc:

Amy,
I am so sorry you feel so badly. Biaxin should be combined with another abx, it is not very effective alone.

Usually after Rocephin it is good to follow up with a "step down" combo like Bicillin shots/Biaxin. OR possibly Omnicef (oral and very close to Rocephin) and Biaxin is a good combo.

Did you do any cyst busting with Flagyl while on IV? If not, I am only speculating...I have heard that Rocephin can cause cysts to form fairly quickly, it could be possible cyst form is coming out. But I am only guessing. A combo for that would be something like Biaxin/Amoxi/Flagyl (you could ask about pulsing flagyl).

I didn't read the other post yet - were co-infections hit even if you tested negative? Leg pain can mean Bart or Babs. My LLMd's favorite co-infection combo is Rifampin/Septra - it is thought to hit most all co-infections.

I am praying for you - please keep us updated. Everyone here seems to be really going through it right now, including me, Lord help us please!

Another idea, if needed, Rocephin IM shots are available. Your doctor could give you one at the office to test to see if it makes you feel better. You can also do them at home, but they are needed much more frequently than Bicillin IM shots.

Hugs,
Dana

I am sorry that you are in a herx, herxes are brutal, I am herxing majorly too, and I am not happy. I am drinking water with lemon and taking activated charcoal...however, I don't know if that's helping at all because I just started that today.

I am sorry for your pain. Have you tried a detox bath or foot bath- maybe i should give that a try too..

I know I am not much help but I am praying for you. Julie

Thanks my friends. It is a help, just to hear back from people who "know".

Dana, I was on Plaquenil, it kind of gave me brain bounce. Flagyl was just a big fat no; made me psychotic (sp).

I jotted down your suggestions for meds. Oh, and I am Bab and Bart positive. Thanks again.

Your story catches my attention!!! I did the same thing after two months on IV Rocephin. Within a month I felt sick again! I thought if I had done IV longer I would have been better off. But it doesn't sound like it. Not with you being on it more than twice longer. And now same response. I've gone totally natural since then. Under a Dr.'s care. I actually have good days! I hope you find what will work for you. Gina

Amy - I gave some other suggestions under you PICC line removal thread to consider.

Yeah, I have awful leg pain and I have definitely had Bart - it could be Bart related. Babs tests neg for me, but did some treatment anyway. Then again it is hard to neatly line up each symptom under which bacteria...could be lyme too. Biaxin did help my leg pain some.

Knock out the co's and you got it beat!

Thanks for the encouragement!

Dana, I have been put on Seprta as of yesterday. Dr. will see me in a week and we will probably add the other one you suggested. (Can't remember name right now.)

I had mentioned before that my dr. had put me on a completely organic diet. Over that month was when I started to gain some ground. Well, what did lame-o me do last week? Went to the fair and had a big bowl of MSG!!!! Udon noodles from a japanese food truck!! :faint: And a corndog! Duh. That was Thurs., PICC out Friday, and explosion of symptoms on Saturday. Dr said "Well, that's a hard lesson to learn, huh?"

So I am hopeful that the crud I ate triggered the flair and I will soon be skipping again. Ok, maybe not skipping. Maybe walking with purpose. :wiggle:

Love to you all, Amy

Oh keep me updated on Septra! I am considering it myself. Will you start Rifampin w/it? My LLMd said Septra works fast if it is going to work, in a few weeks you can start to feel better, I pray that is the case for you. How are you feeling?

Hi Dana,

I've been on Septra for about a week now. I think it may be helping, been feeling a little zesty lately! I see my dr. tomorrow, when I expect we will add the Rifampin. Love to you.

Oh yeah, that is a common side effect some people like or don't like - it makes you feel "zesty"! Many people "turn the corner" and/or get well on this drug. Definitely keep me posted, I am thisclose to trying this combo.

How is the leg pain, subsiding any? I hope so.
