Yay! :jumpy: I had it for seven months; never any problems but definately glad it is gone. My nurse said "Now, sometimes when it's been in for a while you can have some scar tissue around it, so it may resist a bit." Well, she pulled and I felt nothing. It was out, there wasn't even any blood! The line was longer than I thought. It didn't even have blood on it; wierd.

So there is a tiny hole, I have a kind of ace bandage thing on my arm for a couple more days and then (finally) a regular shower. I've been taking baths keeping my right arm stuck out of the tub; talk about awkward.

I feel pretty good; I am still on Biaxin and a multitude of supps to work on my immune system. My energy and spirit are definately better, but I still have pain (legs, knees, ankles mostly) and leg spasticity. I am hoping to keep the ground I have gained.

God is good, all the time. Love to you all, Amy

Hi Amy,
That is great news - wonderful! :cloud9: I am so happy the PICC line came out so easy and you never had a problem all those months! Awesome. :woohoo:

I didn't know you had leg pain - leg pain has been one of my most painful symptoms - both legs.

I can't remember, did you have any pos co-infections? I have read that leg pain can be babesia, even though I have had multiple negative tests, I have been treating babs the last month slowly with Artemisinin, we will see how it goes.

If the leg pain continues, while you are on Biaxin (macrolide + one of the following is used for babesia) ask to try Malarone or Mepron,or even Artemisinin if your doctor thinks babesia is a possibility - it may help.

I will pray that the rest of your symptoms simply resolve. Now, I hope this doesn't mean you are leaving us! You must check in!

Love,
Dana

Ticked: yes, I was on Rocephin that whole time, although I would sometimes do only 1/2 gram a day, or pulse.

Dana, Yeh, right, me leave? Never. Besides, progress has been made but I am not close to where I want to be. Yes, I do have Babesia, I had a positive FISH assay (where they see the little sucker in your red blood cell) plus high titers. I also have Bartonella. ( Nice bowl of tick soup.)

I will be adding something to the Biaxin, I am sure. I was on Plaquenil but it caused some hypomanic type issues so we stopped.

Biaxin knocked out Bart for me in 9 months the first go around. Then I was bitten by my cat last January and am battling a vicious case this time.

If you still had the PICC line in I know Dr. J in Under Our Skin uses IV clindamycin and Mepron. He said on his site, out of 12 IV treatments that did not seem to get to completion, he put them all on IV Clindamycin and Mepron and 11 of the 12 it resolved their remaining symptoms.

Still, some good oral combo's are available. You could use Clindamycin orals and mepron OR malarone, but probiotic up, oral Clindamycin is known for causing C.diff a little more than other abx.

This is why my LLMd loves Rifampin/Septra - Rifampin kills Ehrlichia and Bartonella. Septra also kills Bartonella and is showing great success in knocking out Babesia! Rifampin can also hit "other" strains of Lyme. 3 LLMd's have told me to do it. I know it could be a rought combo..although my sister LOVED it. There are reports of Septra putting quite a few neuro lyme patients into remission. If you ever do Rifampin, do regular liver function tests.

I really NEED to do this combo - but right now I can't think past the next minute.

Other options: Zith/Mepron or Zith/Malarone - Zith can kill Bart and zith/mepron OR malarone in combo kills babesia. Biaxin can also work with Mepron or Malarone, but Zith is sort of more sure thing. Zith knocked me on my rear...Biaxin wasn't as bad, both macrolides. Babesia treatment must be minimum 4 months and Bart..hard to say
My LLMd' would order co-infection tests every few months to see if my titers were dropping...they can give an idea of progression in some cases.

Glad to hear you won't be going! You will just be another success story and we will need you for support!

Love to you,
Dana

Why what happened? Did your doctor agree with something I said? Now if I could follow my own advice...ha!ha!

So, I have to confess this "preacher" doesn't always practice what she preaches so much (can you say, chicken?) if only I could, I might get well (especially the Rifampin/Septra combo). It is apparent I have to get through the fire at some point...I think my "miracle" is going to be going through the fire....SOME MORE! I often procrastinate too much.

Of all things, Bicillin shots for some reason didn't scare me and they did help, I should have remained on them longer, they are an option to go back to, they have gotten my son to about 98% with just a couple symptoms remaining.

Well Amy, my dream was never to be Lyme Literate...lol!! Who knew? But, maybe it was Gods, I do pray it helps in some way.

Love you,
Dana
