I find it so interesting to read this Lyme Md's blog. This one story has caught some attention. He has many patients test Babs negative, but he will treat w/low dose malarone (not mepron) he likes it better (unlike many LLMd's that prefer Mepron) and artemisinin and has had success a few times.

I think it is so wise of Lyme doctor's to hit all co-infections - he always says "Treat the patient, not the tests"

Check out this amazing story about a long term sick patient who gets well after malarone - from his March blog:

So true cuz even if u get tested thru IGeneX for co-infections, your tests could come back NEGATIVE and u still really have it. B/c there r so many different strains and I'm sure they don't test for all strains. I'm bk on my Rifampin, 2day and will start Bartrium in a few weeks. I'm going to take it slow this time.

My LLMD and my son's LLMD figures if u have the symptoms fro the co's they just treat them. I can't do treatment for Babs (Mepron) and my insurance does not cover Malerone and it's $800, not in my budget. Besides I'm allergic 2 all Mycian's so I'm gonna look into something natural for that, I have a few things in mind.

I kjnow we talked about this already on the phone on our "short" phone call, haha, 2 hours later! I think I might try this either later in the year or begining of next year...I might really push naturals hard in the fall and see what goes down with that, then back to llmd.... you know I was gonna hit hard over summer but with 24-7 kiddos, just didn't happen that way

Jamie, I have a Lymie friend from Tn. traveling to Ohio for IV Rocephin. He's with a group of infectious Dr.'s there. Do you know about this group? He's been on IV for three weeks now. He goes this mon. to see the Dr. again.

Wow that is interesting Gina, I hope Jaime sees your post.

Yeah...I started babesia treatment w/Artemisinin and am suppose to add malarone soon. I have tested negative 5-6 times for babs, but ironically the Art is creating babesia symptoms to emerge...oh, it is NOT fun.

3 years and I never treated babs - it could be a major hold up. This is not easy, I hope it pays off.

Krissy - Rifampin/Septra in my opinion is likely the best oral combo. Rifampin kills different strains of LD and Bartonella and Ehrlichia! It also is a mild cyst buster. Septra kills Bart and babs for sure and possibly Ehrlichia...it virtually covers everything. It was my sister's favorite combo. I should be on it..but with it hitting so much, I am afraid the herx would be intolerable, yet there are people that just get well. Septra is known to work fast - many report seeing progress within WEEKS! Both also saturate the central nervous system, where we need this to kill most of all. Great combo if tolerated. It is my LLMd's favorite combo.

Keep us updated!

Gina I haven't heard of this at all! Could you pm me more info? I know someone gave me the name of one doc in ohio that is decent...but aside from that I have always heard there was nobody worth seeing, I always send people to PA from ohio... I would love to know if this group is close to me, and who they are, might be worth checking out!

Yes, I'll get that info for you. Not sure when they'll be back home as his appointment was today. So will probably call later on this week to see what they found out. I love hearing more Dr.'s on board.
