hi there
i was recently dx(clinical) with lymes
for simplicitys sake i will chrono the recent past.

july 3 cut left middle finger
july 5-9 increasing flu like symptoms, intense and steady lower back pain, left armpit
lymph node extremely swollen(upto golf ball size)certain no bullseye
july 10 doc appt. dx blood infection from unstitched cut finger bactrim 10mg. 2xdaily
july 11 find 5 inch bullseye on left shoulderblade. research lymes
july 13 figure lame doc better than no doc in absence of llmd. clinical lyme dx
doxy 100 mg. 2x daily

i am looking for a llmd in the northeast pa area if any one has any leads for me, please, please. i guess im most wondering if the "conventional" rx is a suitable dose in my case, should i be getting before and after bloodwork of some kind, if i am being an idiot not to be trying to get my doc to test for coinfections. i need a good doc to talk to!
anyway, thank you all for your time and know that you are now in my heart.

Jonathan , welcome to our group. I will send you a pm. I was treated in western PA with a good doc, and there's actually quite a few in PA. You have to be aware that not all take insurance, not to be mean, but ins companies like to run the show...some do of course, they can skirt around it in certain ways, ie, not taking in too many lyme pts at once....

good news is that this is new, and if you're on doxy right away great! you also will want to read the "everything you need to knw section" if you go to "board index" at the top, it will list the forum rooms, I believe it's the second one down. Dana has worked thousands of hours putting awesome info in there.

check your messages, it will show up at the top of your screen.

Any advice given by me, is just that, advice. I am not a medical doctor, and I suggest you talk to your doctor about any concerns.

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome!

Jaime can help you find a good LLMd, I am glad that you are going to see someone that can help you.

You have surely caught this early after becoming symptomatic...that is VERY good. Appropriate treatment could nip this in the bud quickly for you.

It is always interesting to hear how other's became symptomatic. In your case another infection triggered possibly dormant lyme it sounds like. Same exact thing happened to my son. He got a staph infection when cut at the gym, next all kinds of symptoms were starting.

A bullseye rash can appear right after a tick bite or much, much later but it is an ABSOLUTE that Lyme is the issue.

There are many links and videos if you click on the Board Index - if you are interested.

If you have any questions, comments, vents, concerns - whatever - we are here for you.

Take care,
Dana

Welcome Jonathan. It's amazing that you're searching out an LLMD so early in the infection. Some don't even realize they have Lyme for 5, 10, 15 years in some cases. I've had a similar experience with a cut followed up by symptoms appearing and know how frustrating and how much of a pain it can be to say the least. Keep us updated on your progress etc. ! :)

Gee Krissy, maybe you could re-send that post a few more times? hahahah

Welcome Jonathon, you will find so much here on this forum and in the resources that will help you. It sounds like you are in the right direction and I am sure someone was able to hook you up with a LLMD. There is a lot to learn about this disease but the sooner the treatment, the better and quicker the results. Julie
