I have studied and put together a perm post under "Everything You Need To Know About Tick Borne Diseases" Named - Infrared Sauna - symptom relief and detox - answers to your questions. A bunch of info can be found at this link. Entire thread: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1663

After my study I have found this to be an important part of the healing process and urge everyone to talk to their LLMd's to see if this right/ok for you and seriously consider possibly the best investment in your health in my opinion.

Links and a lot more info is at the link above, but I wanted to give you a list of what Infrared can do. I love mine and the more I use it, the more I think it is absolutely healing to the body and immune system boosting. Here is a sneak peek of the benefits...if this doesn't cover us all..nothing will!

(Jamie - didn't Connie use an Infrared Sauna w/her natural protocol and now she is well? I know this played a big part in it)

An excerpt from one of the links provided in the post:
Over 2000 years ago, the famous Greek physician Parmenides stated "give me a chance to create fever, and I will cure any disease". This traditional wisdom has certainly stood the test of time. A typical infrared sauna session causes a brief 1-3 degree increase in body temperature. Fever is the body’s defense against bacteria, microbes and consequent infection. This beneficial side effect triggers the production of white blood cells (leukocytes) by your bone marrow and killer T cells by your thymus, resulting in strengthening the immune system.

wow, amazing! Yes Dana, Connie has her own FIR, as well as HBOC, I think they had a lot to do with her getting well...I think the sauna was one of the first things she bought, and she said she still uses both ALL the time, she said even if she didn't have lyme she would always use them. SHe had a small relapse, but was well very quickly...mainly I think from this.

I would love to be able to purchase a sauna. I am going to start praying for one that God would provide in some way. Maybe there will be one at Home Depot with a dent or something marked down -- cause we dont have the extra $$. I really want to be well. The Lord has always faithfully provided for us, and I pray that if this is his will for me, that He will work in a great way.

In the mean time, I just found out on Lyme MD Function that Walmart sells what they call "Sauna Suits" in the exercise section for $7.99. I thought until I have use of a Sauna, I could sit outside in one (of course when my neighbors are at work so I dont look like I lost my marbles).

Thanks for sharing this information.

I wanted to add that my son was using ours at 135 degrees for 20 minutes. He breaks a big sweat...BUT, I read using lower temps like 120 and staying in longer (working up to) 40-60 minutes helps rid the body of OIL toxins in the fat, like pesticides, etc. Yuck-olla!

Sherri - is there a gym or spa nearby that you could pay per session? I didn't have one anywhere near me, so we decided to buy one, plus I knew it would benefit all of us. There was a few for sale on Ebay w/minor damage to the exterior for an unbeatable price, but they are all sold it looks like. You can get a small non-wood one. Check out the link below of one that is really affordable!

Molly (here) has this one and loves it, it is much more affordable. If this one sells on Ebay, there are a ton more of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/XLARGE-INFRARED-POR ... 7C294%3A50

We couldn't afford ours to be honest, I had to buy it on credit, I felt in my heart this was important. So we decided on the regular wood 1-2 person size because all 3 of us would get years and a lot of use out of it. They have the same one at Home Depot and at Costco online like ours. This price cannot be beat on this one at Costco, exact one costs more at Home Depot. I shopped everywhere online for ours, this one at Costco is a great deal. It has CARBON (the best) heaters and a hook up for stereo/computer/any "boombox" etc. (it says MP3 player but we can plug in any audio with the connector that comes with it) This includes shipping too: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.as ... =en-US&s=1

i cannot emphasize enough how right on you are dana about the saunas. it is very important to take a shower right afterwards to wash the toxic sweat off.
i went to many alternative doctors when i thought i had chronic fatigue syndrome.....they found that i had high mercury and other toxins..they all recommended using a sauna,...but when they found this i already could not tolerate any increase in my body temperature.
but anyone that can i would highly recommend a sauna.

Yes, yes, yes, I can testify to the cheaper saunas. And they are much cheaper right now than they were earlier this year, I notice.

I feel so darn good when i use it.

The only bad thing is that it is difficult for me to use it during the hot months. I've been using it once per week, though, and still seeing benefits. As soon as fall hits, I'll be back in 3 to 4 times per week for 40 minutes.

It looks exactly like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/X-LARGE-INFRARED-PO ... 7C294%3A50

except it has zippers for your hands to come out if you want. You can read - I usually go online to distract myself.

I also got the same chair, foot massager with the sauna.

I've had it over a year and I used the heck out of it.

To shower or not to shower? This is the most conflicting part. So I studied and still came up equally with reasons to shower after and or not to shower after (or at least wait).

My sauna instructions read to shower first. It then reads to wait awhile after a session if you want to shower. The reason given is that showering before warms the body and makes you more ready to sweat. It reads showering immediately after isn't good because your pores are open and you can absorb soaps or even chlorine from your water. It reads if you must shower wait until your body is cool and then only rinse off with warm water.

THEN there is the conflicting info where I have read online to shower after. Of course it is believed if you don't you can reabsorb the toxins - I have read to use a non toxic, natural soap.

I am sure if you don't towel dry after the sauna you could reabsorb the toxins, so I always towel very dry.

It makes sense in my mind to shower after, but my body is so warm after I hate losing that heat by showering, the body continues to benefit from infrared even after you are out of the sauna.

Here is some conflicting information. The first link reads not to shower immediately.
Read #16: http://www.healthmatesauna.com/faq/howtouse.html

This reads to shower right away:

I always take a cool shower immediately after I get out. I'm dripping wet from head to toe. I towel dry a little and get right in the shower to rinse/wash off the toxins.

I have a filter in my shower that filters out the chlorine. This is very important as breathing the chlorine in the shower mist and skin absorpsion is actually worse than drinking it, I've read.

I also use non-toxic products from head to toe. It took me a while to get there! I'm actually spending less on my cosmetics but a little more on deodorant and shampoo

When I got so sick I became a total germaphobe and toxicphobe LOL

Molly,
I knew you had a chlorine filter shower head!!! You have all the cool stuff! I remember when you got it. I would love to have one!

I am not really at the super sweaty point yet..I have been going slowly- it feels so relaxing. But I am moving up in time and heat and now starting to break a sweat, not dripping yet..Danny does that.

I read (might have seen this above) that lower temps like 120 - and longer sessions get deep in the layer of fat beneath the skin and you detox "oil toxins" - pesticides, etc. Higher temps, shorter session detox water soluable toxins. Danny does the high temp, 20 minute thing, I told him lower and longer. They say 120 work up to 40 min to an hour. I also read w/each sauna you get rid of a layer of toxins and the next layer moves up.

After those planes flew over our homes with pesticides - I am glad to know I can detox that, I have ALWAYS thought those pesticide spewing planes played a part in my getting sick. Pesticides lower immunity and I was fine until about 6 months after those planes sprayed us.

When I get to the dripping stage in the sauna - yeah I will rinse off. I am going to get a good natural soap for that and steal your shower head! :D

How often do you sauna, 2-3 days a week? What temp and how long? Oh, did you start Ceftin/Biaxin yet? If so, how are you feeling?

When the temps are cooler I got up to 4 times per week (usually three - try for four) for 40 minutes full blast. I was going to try the lower temps (I read the same stuff you did about lower temps) but I feel so good after the high temps that I kept it up.

Maybe now that it's hot I should try the lower temps??? I already got rid of my metals and that was a part of my decision, too.

I hate to be hot so that is a big factor for me - we are watching every penny right now and haven't had to put the air conditioning on yet!

Getting a new filter for my B-day as it was time to change the filter part anyway. This time instead of buying on line we are going to support our "local" shops and get one at our water store (where I buy my R/O water).

I turn the BIG 5 0 on Monday. How in the world did this happen????????

I have your b-day written down - I am right behind ya Molly, only four years younger. It is funny, because the first thing I thought of this morning was "I wonder if I will be well by my 50th birthday". I don't know what happens to time....I am shocked still about my 40th birthday 6 years ago! lol!

Danny said the exact same thing you said! He feels very good at the higher temps & dripping wet. He keeps pushing me to go higher temp and go for the dripping sweat...I will get there but, I know the longer you stay in the better...I don't know if I will ever get up to what he does 135 degrees.

I am amazed! Your metals are gone? Did you get retested? Wow, I am impressed. I really wonder if long term use of an infrared sauna could get us well. Jamies friend did natural and infrared and hbo and got well in a year. I think the infrared may have made the biggest impact....imho.

So, no chelation treatments for you? :kicking:

My colon hydrotherapist had a sauna I used - said it was a "dry-heat" sauna. I would put it around 145 degrees and bake for 25-30 minutes. It was great. Not sure if that's the same as the infrared. She said you should shower afterwards to rinse off the toxins. That was my favorite part of the sauna - the shower afterwards!
