I am flipping out!! We take our dogs to a park, well maintained and stay away from high brushy grass.

My husband followed one of the dogs as it ran off and to some high grass she was hoping to "graze" on...thank God he got there ahead of our dog ....there on the blade he spotted a tick. I thought NO...I looked and even got close enough to study it and I said, "That is a female dog tick" - I looked it up and sure enough it was. Picture below.

To just see these ticks is enough to make you want to think that is what brought me and my family to our knees!

Always remember the way to identify a tick - if you can do a leg count THEY ALL have 8 legs (they are from the spider family) they crawl, they do not fly or jump...they climb up on blades of grass (or any greenery, shrubs, etc. even low mowed grass) when hungry - they have "infrared" sensors that see YOU coming, then they attach and crawl up to 20 minutes on your body until they embed themselves in you. You will not feel the bite, it numbs you first, then freezes the immune system in the immediate area and releases all of its deadly bacteria.

Oh my God! Yes, you're right, just seeing the picture is YUCK!

We can't run from it all though, you know that, it's not just ticks, but fleas, mosquotos, dust mites! We can only do our best. I think a huge part of it is boosting our immune systems big time.

my mom lives on 5 acres with horses, and it drives me crazy to be there! I used to only worry about all the big spiders and snakes, since the past few years, I'm kinda insaine, "Don't touch that, don't do that, DONT DONT DONT" everyone tells me to calm down....but until you have lived in MY body, you have no idea what I endure EVERY minute, I don't wish it on my worst enemy and certainly not my children!

thanks for the reminder Dana that it's that time a year again, be vigalent!

love u

"something good WILL happen to me today"

(Isaiah 53:5 NKJV) But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Any advice given by me, is just that, advice. I am not a medical doctor, and I suggest you talk to your doctor about any concerns.
